Scientific Calculator

A full online scientific calculator with trigonometry (degrees or radians), logarithms, square roots, powers, factorials, parentheses, and the constants π and e. Type an expression or tap the buttons and the answer updates live — no download, no sign-up. It's powered by the mathjs expression engine, and results are trimmed to 12 significant digits to avoid the floating-point noise (like 0.30000000000000004) that trips up naive calculators. Inverse trig functions (asin, acos, atan) are also supported by typing them directly, even though the on-screen keypad only has buttons for sin, cos, and tan.

Full scientific calculator with trigonometry (DEG/RAD), logarithms, roots, powers, factorials, and the constants π and e. Type an expression or tap the buttons — the result updates live. Everything runs in your browser.

How This Tool Works

Type a math expression or tap the buttons — sin, cos, tan, ln, log, √, powers (xʸ), factorial (!), π, and e are all supported. The result updates instantly, and “=” carries it forward for the next calculation.

Formula & Method

Expressions follow standard order of operations (PEMDAS): parentheses first, then exponents and roots, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction. Trig functions use degrees or radians depending on the DEG/RAD switch.

Example Calculation

In DEG mode, entering sin(30) gives 0.5. Typing 2^10 gives 1024, and sqrt(144) + 5! gives 132. Typing asin(0.5) returns 30, the angle whose sine is 0.5. Switch to RAD mode and sin(pi/2) evaluates to 1, since π/2 radians equals 90°.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it use degrees or radians?+

Both — use the DEG/RAD switch at the top. It defaults to degrees, so sin(30) returns 0.5.

What functions are supported?+

Trigonometry (sin, cos, tan), natural and base-10 logs (ln, log), square root, powers (xʸ), factorial (!), parentheses, and the constants π and e.

Can I type on my keyboard?+

Yes — type directly into the display and press Enter to evaluate, or tap the on-screen buttons. Both work together.

Can I calculate inverse trig functions like arcsine or arccosine?+

Yes — type asin(, acos(, or atan( directly, since there's no dedicated button for them. In DEG mode they return an angle in degrees; in RAD mode they return radians, matching whichever mode the sin/cos/tan buttons are currently using.

Why do I get "Error" or "Undefined" instead of a number?+

"Error" means the expression itself couldn't be parsed — usually a typo, an unmatched parenthesis, or a missing operator. "Undefined" means the math has no finite result, such as dividing by zero (1/0).
