Formula & Method
Tip amount = bill × (tip % ÷ 100). Total = bill + tip. Each person pays total ÷ number of people.
Example Calculation
A $84 bill with an 18% tip comes to $99.12 total. Split between 4 people, that's $24.78 each. For a $150 dinner bill with a 20% tip split six ways, the tip comes to $30 (bringing the total to $180), each person owes $30, and the tip portion alone works out to $5 per person.
